Calorie Log: slow fade

The next few weeks will be busy, we have a lot of year end wrapping up to do along with the regular business of gardens and home life.  I realized yesterday afternoon just how many balls I was trying to keep in the air when I realized I no longer had the energy to go just a bit beyond the routine.  I needed a recharge, and so did my family.  Even my husband is forgetting little things, and while that is a common thing for me in him it signals some heavy wear and tear.  We had a family TV night, and I brought out the chips and pop.  I had no control and when I sat down to input everything into the calorie program I realized I have not nipped the little slip-ups in the bud and they are starting to grow bigger.

This morning the radio broadcast was on how people do not dramatically end up in trouble, it’s always slow and unnoticeable.  Then I went to another online reflection and it too talked about the imperceptible slide into sin.  As I sat drinking my coffee past sermons came to mind… one used the anology of sprinkling water on us so slowly we get used to being rained on and as it happens so gradually we get to a point where we no longer realize we are swimming in a pool of water and do not notice that we are being drown in our own sin.

I am falling back into unhealthly practices.  I need to keep working on the changes I want instead of fading slowly back to the life I had.  I will not ignore the warnings.  I leave you off with the lyrics of a song by Casting Crowns called Slow Fade.

“Slow Fade”

Be careful little eyes what you see
It’s the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it’s the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It’s a slow fade, it’s a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you’re thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
