The countdown to Lent is on

We all have two weeks to figure out what we are going to do for Lent! I would also like to reclaim Shrove Tuesday, originally it was a feast to use up all the temptations you were to deny yourself over the next forty days. So, here’s my challenge to us all:

Decide what you will fast from and collect all the temptations over the next two weeks. Plan one last indulgence, not a binge folks, an indulgence. Invite friends, share, and watch as the money you save by avoiding that temptation grows into your Easter alms!

The things we are to fast from are the things that are supposed to help build our virtues, help us focus on things that are more important than these temporary pleasures. But fasting isn’t the only thing we are called to do as Catholics. Alms giving is another important aspect that will help us. In addition to what you give up, remember to plan what you will fill that space with. Try adding some extra prayer, study, or just plain time in the chapel.
